Salted Edamame

Bright green soybean pods boiled and tossed with flaky sea salt — a protein-packed evening snack that's warm, moreish and ready in minutes. The classic izakaya nibble you can make at home.

Method

  1. Bring 1.5 L of water to a rolling boil in a large pot and add the coarse sea salt.

  2. Tip in the frozen edamame pods and boil for 4-5 minutes, until bright green and heated through.

  3. Drain the pods well in a colander and give them a quick shake to remove excess water.

  4. Transfer to a serving bowl while still hot and scatter over the flaky sea salt.

  5. Toss so the salt clings to the pods, then serve warm or chilled. Eat by squeezing the beans straight into your mouth and discard the empty pods.
